I recently took a dashboard and visualization course. It has really gotten me to focus in on visualizations and what makes a good image and what doesn’t. I’ve been looking for real life examples to learn from. I found this one in a Washington Post.
It‘s just a bar chart but what I love the most about it is the name on the y axis goes along with the bar. It isn’t stuck outside an arbitrarily axis. I also love the use of the value at the end of the bar. And finally, I like the use of color to highlight the focus of the story.
